ABOUT HOMEIPVPN

Your home IP address, anywhere you travel

HomeIPVPN is a one-to-one setup service that puts your real home internet connection on a travel router, so you can work from anywhere in the world and still appear to be sitting at home.

✓One-time setup fee✓No subscription, ever✓You own the hardware

What HomeIPVPN is

HomeIPVPN sets up a private home IP VPN on hardware you own. A senior network engineer configures a VPN server on your home router and a matching GL.iNet travel router in a live remote session. When you travel, your laptop connects to the travel router, and all of your traffic travels through your own home internet connection. Employer IT systems, banks, and streaming services see your normal residential home IP address, exactly as if you were working from your couch. There is no shared datacenter IP, no VPN app on your work laptop, and no monthly subscription.

How it works

  • Book a session. Start with the $79 Pre-Travel Audit & Advisory session if you want hardware and compatibility advice first, or go straight to the full setup.
  • We configure your home server. In a remote screen-sharing session, we set up the VPN server on your home router, including dynamic DNS so a static IP is not required.
  • We configure your travel router. Your GL.iNet travel router is set up as the client, with a hardware kill switch so your real location never leaks if the tunnel drops.
  • You travel and plug in. Connect your laptop to the travel router Wi-Fi at your destination and work normally, on your home IP, anywhere in the world.

Who it is for

HomeIPVPN is built for remote workers who travel, digital nomads, and freelancers whose employers, clients, banks, or tax and compliance tools care about where their connection appears to come from. It is also for anyone who has been flagged, blocked, or locked out after using a commercial VPN with a shared datacenter IP address.

The two services

  • $79 Pre-Travel Audit & Advisory session: 1 hour, remote. A senior network engineer checks your home ISP modem and CGNAT situation, recommends the right GL.iNet hardware, and gives you a pre-travel readiness checklist. The $79 fee is credited toward the full setup session.
  • $379 Secure Home IP VPN System session: 2 hours, remote. The complete done-for-you setup of your home VPN server and travel router, including protocols, kill switch, and testing, with 30 days of post-session support.

Both services are one-time fees. Book either session on the appointment page.

How HomeIPVPN is different from a commercial VPN

  • Your own residential IP. Commercial VPNs give you a shared datacenter IP that IT departments and banks routinely flag. HomeIPVPN uses the real residential IP of your own home connection.
  • Hardware, not an app. Nothing is installed on your work laptop. Your devices connect to the travel router, and the router handles the tunnel.
  • Private by design. The VPN server is your own router in your own home. HomeIPVPN does not operate a network of servers that your traffic passes through, and we cannot see or log your browsing.
  • Pay once. No monthly or annual subscription. You own the hardware and the configuration.

Facts at a glance

  • Protocols supported: WireGuard, Tailscale, OpenVPN, and Stealth VPN (TLS obfuscated mode for restrictive hotel and coworking Wi-Fi).
  • Routers we configure: GL.iNet travel and home routers, including the GL-MT3000 (Beryl AX), GL-AXT1800 (Slate AX), GL-SFT1200 (Opal), and GL-MT6000 (Flint 2). Bring your own hardware; choosing the right model is part of the $79 audit.
  • ISPs supported: most fiber and cable providers, including Comcast Xfinity, AT&T, Spectrum, Cox, Google Fiber, Verizon Fios, Vodafone, TalkTalk, Virgin Media, Rogers, and many more. A static IP is not required.
  • Devices: works with Windows, macOS, Linux, iOS, and Android, because devices simply join the travel router Wi-Fi.
  • Delivery: all sessions are remote, worldwide, by screen share.

Who is behind HomeIPVPN

HomeIPVPN is run by Syed, founder and editor, a network infrastructure engineer with around a decade of experience across networking, cloud, and DevOps. Every setup is done one to one by a senior engineer, not handed to a call center. The guides on this site are written from hands-on testing of the same routers and configurations we deploy for clients. How we test and review is set out in our Editorial Policy.

Frequently asked questions

Is HomeIPVPN a VPN subscription service? +
No. HomeIPVPN is a one-time setup service, not a subscription. We configure a private VPN on hardware you own, in your own home. There are no monthly fees and no HomeIPVPN servers carrying your traffic.
Do I need technical skills or a static IP? +
No to both. The whole configuration is done for you in a remote screen-sharing session, and dynamic DNS is included, so your regular dynamic home IP works without paying your ISP for a static address.
Which service should I book first? +
If you already own a supported GL.iNet router and know your home setup is compatible, book the $379 Secure Home IP VPN System session. If you are unsure about hardware, your ISP, or CGNAT, start with the $79 Pre-Travel Audit & Advisory session. Its fee is credited toward the full setup.
How do I contact HomeIPVPN? +
Use the contact page or email [email protected]. Existing clients can also open a support ticket from the support page.
